Cebu ambush kills engineer

CONSOLACION, Cebu – A 50-year-old engineer died on the spot after he was ambushed by three motorcycle-riding gunmen along the national road in barangay Pitogo, this town, early morning today.
The victim, Engr. Malequias Ceballo, died on the spot with multiple gunshot wounds in the body. He was armed during the incident but failed to fired back as the Toyota Hilux he was driving overturned after hitting the gutter.
Police said three gunmen had followed Ceballo since he left his residence in barangay Cogon, Compostela town early morning today.
The gunmen were onboard a black, unplated motorcycle, the police said.
Upon reaching the national highway in barangay Pitogo, two of the suspects disembarked from the motorcycle and started firing at the vehicle of Ceballo. The victim tried to sped up but hit the gutter, causing his vehicle to overturn. The suspects again fired at the victim, living him dead on the spot.
Police investigators who responded to the crime scene recovered six empty shells of 45 caliber pistol. They also recovered the two handguns from the clutch bag of the victim.
