Pa hangs self after killing two kids in Cebu (update)

A father allegedly killed himself after choking to death his two small children, a boy and a girl, inside the apartelle they rented on Escario Street, this city, early today.

The year’s first day of work and school was greeted with the bloody news after police discovered the three bodies inside the Cebu Capitol Commercial Complex apartelle, at noon time today.    

Initial investigation showed that the father, identified as Felix Ortiz, allegedly choked his two kids, Christopher, 5, and Crystel, 7, to death using a nylon cord then wrapped their bodies with blankets.

Later on, the father hanged himself to death on top of the bodies of the two kids, said homicide police chief Mario Monilar. The kids’ mother, Bernadeth, was out during the incident.

A source said Crystel was Bernadeth’s daughter to her first husband, a German national, while Christopher, was Bernadeth’s and Felix’s son. The couple met after Bernadeth broke up with her husband, the source said.

The reason for the killing was still unknown as police investigators were still gathering information and statement from those who know the victims, including Bernadeth. #
