Court convicts couple in Cebu church-sex scandal

A Municipal Trial Court (MTC) Judge here sentenced to two years in jail the couple who were caught having sex inside the compound of the Sta. Teresa de Avila parish in this city last October.    

Judge Mario Manayon sent Cornelio Samson and Azucena Emburnas behind bars for two years after the two pleaded guilty to the grave scandal charge filed against them by officials of barangay Poblacion.

Last October 23, Samson and Emburnas were caught having sex under the shade of a tree inside the church compound at 12 noon, stirring the passersby and students who saw them in the scandalous acts.

The two were arrested by barangay officials after they refused to heed the calls of passersby for them to stop the acts. Emburnas allegedly even asked male passerby to also do it with her.

The two pleaded guilty during the arraignment of their case last Tuesday. #
